Band: DAVID NAIL
Album: I’m About To Come Alive
Label: MCA Nashville
With the option to go play baseball in college when high school came to an end, David Nail instead opted to chase his dreams of playing music and made the move to Nashville from his native Missouri. He secured a record deal in the early 2000’s only to have a single released without much push. With all of the ups and downs he faced early on, he stuck to his dreams and with the release of his single “Red Light” he began on his path to mainstream success. Now he has readied his new album I’m About to Come Alive and uses it to showcase everything he brings to the table. As a singer his voice presents a soulful tone and he uses opening track “Mississippi” to introduce it to you as his voice is forced to carry the lyric as the prominent instrument is a piano. He continues to showcase his voice and abilities to pull you into songs throughout the album with his outstanding version of Train’s “I’m About To Come Alive,” “Strangers On A Train,” a song that features harmonies by Miranda Lambert, and the tad bit darker “Looking For A Good Time.” Country stars have also contributed songs on this album such as Gary LeVox on “Summer Job Days” and Kenny Chesney on “Turning Home,” but that doesn’t mean Nail didn’t show off his writing as well. “Again” tells a great story, mostly true, about a girl from Nail’s hometown, while songs like “This Time Around” and album closer “Missouri” allow you to come into David’s life as he openly presents it to you. Throughout the album Nail pulls together his incredible voice, ability to pick the right songs as well as write them, and delivers each and every one of them with conviction and passion. Wrap all of this around “Red Light” and what you begin to realize is that his single is just the start of the long career for David Nail.
