Drew Davis Band Concert

DREW DAVIS BAND
Friday, February 27, 2009
@ 3rd and Lindsley in Nashville, TN

3rd and Lindsley sits within’ a strip mall of sorts on the more industrial side of downtown Nashville, but has become a place to play for a great deal of up and comers in town and on this night that list got a little longer when the Drew Davis Band took to the stage. The small stage made the 6 piece band have to use their imagination when it came to setting up their gear so they’d have room to play, but they found the way and from the get-go, front man Drew Davis seemed to have plenty of room to move around the mid portion of the stage and get the crowd revved up and into the show.

“Are y’all ready to party?” asked Davis who was met with a lackluster cheer from the crowd prompting him to ask again, “I said, are y’all ready to party with us here tonight!” This time around the crowd satisfied the question with their response and the band kicked into opening song “Everything Or Nothing,” putting their incredible harmonies front and center from the very opening song of the evening.

“Did anyone come out on this Friday night to have a good time?” asked Davis as if he even had to as the crowd welcomed the question with a huge ovation before he went through a series of quick questions asking, “Are you ready to get down tonight? Are you ready to turn it up tonight?” he finished as he led the crowd in a sing-a-long with him on the opening chorus of “Oh’s” on their song “Turn It Up.”

They rolled into their set with “Let It Burn,” a song Davis declared was not a love song prior to playing it, and a brand new song called “Thank You,” which was dedicated to all of their great friends and great lovers of country music that they have met over the years of playing in the band.

“So this is a new song that no one has heard out live yet except for in a garage in Texas a few weeks ago,” stated Davis as they launched into “Last Forever,” a song he wrote with Kristy O from the band Bomshel who coincidently was in the audience supporting the guys on this night.

With some well timed advertising of the great food at 3rd and Lindlsey as well as a mention of their taping of “Gene Simmons Family Jewels” airing sometime in late March early April as the guitarist tuned up for the next song, Davis kept the crowd entertained before launching into a new song, “Sweet Southern Temptation,” an up-tempo rocker that is sure to satisfy the needs of the two-stepping crowd.

They continued to roll into their set with “I Can’t Stop You,” and “Back There All The Time,” a song which Drew confessed they do not really play all that often, and kept the crowd bopping along with them from side to side with “Dirty Blonde Bombshell.”

“I want to thank everyone for coming out and supporting us tonight. We love country music and we love the country music fans,” stated Davis. “This last song we are going to play is about being a country rock band on the road for the last 5 ½ years and putting everything we have into it,” he finished as they closed their show with “Crossroads.”
