Band: GEORGE STRAIT
Album: Twang
Label: MCA Nashville
By: Robin Dolezal
With the release of George Strait’s 38th studio album it is no less than great, which should not be surprising for the man who has had a career in country music for almost 30 years. His newest album “Twang” proves he is the king of country songs with the stories getting better and better as he addresses issues that all ages and walks of life could relate to. The slower ballads such as “Living For The Night”, “The Breath You Take” and “Beautiful Day For Goodbye” showcase George’s gentle way of singing a simple love song that leaves an impression on the audience with the depth of the story behind the song. To add some flavor to the album George mixes it up by adding “Hot Grease and Zydeco” which has a Jazz feel to it that emphasizes the keyboards and horns in a way that would make Ray Charles proud. He then switches gears with the last song on the album titled “El Rey”, which is completely in Spanish, giving his Mexican fans something to rave about. With the variety of songs and different sounds this album offers there is definitely something for everyone.
