Band: JEANETTE WILLIAMS
Album: Thank You For Caring
Label: Blue Circle Records
If an artist is playing traditional bluegrass or modern contemporary bluegrass it is their ability to combine the two styles perfectly to create an album that older and newer fans alike will love that is going to gain them attention from the industry. Jeannette Williams has just accomplished this feat with her third solo project “Thank You For Caring.” Unlike a lot of other artists within’ the genre of bluegrass, Williams doesn’t mix in too many outside the genre influences or stray far away from what she does best. For the most part this is a bluegrass album through and through from the opening notes of “Enough Of You” where the plucking of the banjo tosses you into the album all the way through the final notes of her bluegrass take of the popular Gloria Gaynor anthem “I Will Survive.” Williams brought a personal feel to this album when choosing the songs as each have a special meaning to her as she states in the liner notes. Her vocal delivery is perfect and she tends to remind me a bit of Dolly Parton more often then not. It is no wonder after hearing this album why she has earned IBMA nominations over the past few years. Besides the outstanding vocals you also get great musicianship with this album from guest appearances from the likes of Randy Kohrs, Tony Mabe, as well as a vocal spot from the legendary George Jones on the title track, “Thank You For Not Caring.” Though bluegrass music isn’t my particular choice when I am spinning a CD there is no denying talent when you hear it and this album is full of talent in every aspect of the word.
