Today’s mainstream country radio is filled with pop driven country rock and it’s inevitable that someone always calls into the station saying give me something a little more traditional. For example, how many times do you hear George Strait or Garth Brooks blasting from your speakers? I rest my case. But, with that being said don’t look past the fact that there are some newcomers playing a modern yet traditional style that will surely suit the needs of both the modern country fans as well as the more traditional based fans, as is the case with Zachary Hunter’s “In Your Dreams.” The up-tempo songs like “Place In The Heart” and “Fire It Up,” which talks of a 16-year olds first car and makes reference to Nascar legends Junior Johnson and Richard Petty are sure to please the modern country fan and have you tapping along. Then, Hunter takes a moment to let his George Strait influence shine on the honky-tonk/dancehall styled song appropriate ly titled, “Something Big (The George Strait Song).  Finally, for you fans of ballads that focus on relationships and tug a bit at your heart then look no further than the wonderfully written “As Long As We Believe.” It is always a good thing to hear an artist/songwriter that can perfectly combine the traditional influences while maintaining a modern feel and Hunter accomplishes just that on this album. Good stuff and well worth checking out.
